Hello and welcome to the new and official website of Cwmbran Woodland Players! (Or as we are more affectionately known… “Woodies”)
The Cwmbran Woodland Players was originally founded in 1970 by Nina Richards to produce an annual pantomime. We now annually produce musicals and traditional pantomimes at the Congress Theatre, Cwmbran along with regular concerts and occasional other productions at various other venues. Recent pantomimes include: Dick Whittington (2010), Frankenstein (2007), Cinderella (2006) and Peter Pan (2005), while recent musicals include: My Fair Lady (2009), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2008), Me and My Girl (2004), Annie (2003), Carousel (2002) and The Sound of Music (2001). We also enter the Gwent Festival of One Act Plays, taking place each Spring.
We are a committee run, non-profit making society, affiliated to NODA and WAMF/Ty Cerdd. We are a friendly crowd and are always looking for new members from the age of 9 and over. If you can sing in tune and feel you might have a talent for performing please contact us via email or come along to a rehearsal. We hold auditions for all productions for new and existing members and have an annual membership fee of £30 (£15 under 18's). We also welcome people wanting to help with the technical side. If you have experience in theatre lighting, sound or stage management, or wish to gain experience then please come along.
We all rehearse on Wednesday evenings at Woodland Road Sports and Social Centre, Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran from 7pm/7:30pm and principals also rehearse Thursday evenings. As show time approaches, we may also be required to attend some weekend rehearsals.
To find out more, please feel free to have a look around the website or contact us via email on cwmbranwoodlandplayers@hotmail.co.uk, or, of course, drop into one of our rehearsals.
